CANADIAN TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS

We carry topographic maps for the most popular sections of Quebec and Ontario.  The 1:50,000 scale topographic map is ideal for recreational activities such as cycling, canoeing, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping and hiking.
Accurately shown are hills, valleys, lakes, rivers, streams, rapids, portages, trails and wooded areas; major, secondary and side roads, and all man-made features such as building
s, power lines, dams and cut lines. A 1:50,000 scale map covers an area of approximately 1000 square kilometers, and is the most detailed topographic map available from the Canadian government.
The 1:250,000 scale topographic map is considered to be a reconnaissance-type map. It covers the same area of land as sixteen 1:50,000 scale maps. This scale is popular not only as a detailed overview of a large area, but also as a detailed road map for use when traveling on back roads and
side roads. A full 1:250,000 scale map shows an area approximately the size of Prince Edward Island.

HIGBEE "LOST" STREAM MAP

Professor Higbee's Stream Map of Pennsylvania is the first and only highly detailed map of its kind. This 3-foot-by-5-foot color map shows virtually all of the 45,000 miles of Pennsylvania streams, plus lakes. It is estimated that 10% of all the anglers catch 90% of the fish. Regardless of which group you fall into...there's a sure way to up your odds...simply try new fishing waters. Now, with this map you can find hidden streams and lakes! Pennsylvania is loaded with great fishing waters...many of them overlooked. From the Lake Erie tributaries to the Delaware River...thousands of miles of streams, lakes and rivers are now easy-to-locate on one map.  The stream map of Pennsylvania was completed in 1965 after a thirty-year effort by Howard Higbee, a former Penn State Professor.
The map is known as the "Lost Stream map" to many anglers. Professor Higbee succeeded in creating a map of the highest detail possible...a map that shows every stream and lake. He painstakingly plotted by hand the location of 45,000 miles of streams onto a 3 by 5 foot map. The map sold extremely well--until it was lost several years later. Incredibly, the printer entrusted with the original drawing and printing plates declared bankruptcy, then carelessly hauled Higbee's 30 years of work to a landfill. The few remaining dog-eared copies became a prized fisherman's possession. Professor Higbee was offered $400 for one of his last maps, and state agencies were forced to keep their copies under lock and key. Experts told Professor Higbee that reprints were impossible, because the maps were printed in non-photographic blue. Then, in 1991, at the age of 91, Howard Higbee's dream came true. Computers made it possible to reprint the map. Howard said "I never thought I'd live to see this day." This map is a great gift for any Pennsylvania angler!
